Below are some basic calculations that are available to help you calculate the number of boards that you will require. Depending on the size and shape of your deck these calculations may not cover all eventualities.

Please note that these calculations do not apply for any boards fitted at an angle.

Length required per m2 . . .

To calculate the number of metres of boards against a square metre (m2)

Length required by width . . .

To calculate the number of boards required against the width . . .

Width ÷ 145 = Number of deck boards

Divide length by required deck board length size.

Example: Deck area is 1450mm (W) x 12,000mm (L)

1450 ÷ 145 = 10

12000 ÷ 6000 (6m board) = 2

10 x 2 = 20 (boards required for this area)
